PETER BARBER, C.P.A.

Peter is an accounting consultant who provides financial services to clients throughout Alaska. He is a fourth-generation Alaskan and has spent his professional career working for Alaska-based businesses. He has a B.A. in Business Administration-Accounting from the University of Alaska. His experience includes tax preparation, auditing, financial management and reporting, audit preparation, and financial consulting and planning.

Additionally, Peter is a keen strategist and adept at managing projects of a variety of sizes. His ability to see potential problems before they arise makes him a natural problem solver. He applies this to finding creative solutions for clients and developing training programs for client staff to build capacity. He has developed procedure and policy manuals for organizations and has been instrumental in developing multi-year budgets and providing financial management for grant administration. Furthermore, he has provided grant evaluation services, developed logic models and outcome frameworks to determine the success of programs.

Rural Alaska First is an Alaska-based consulting firm offering project planning and development, grant writing and administration, and project management services. Our unique business model brings together a virtual and highly effective team of experts who have experience working with Alaska Native Organizations, not-for-profit organizations, federally recognized tribes, municipalities, and Alaska Native Village Corporations. Our network of professionals, work as subcontractors to Rural Alaska First and include experts in grant research and project development, grant writing, logic model development, project evaluation, and grant administration (including financial management and reporting). We also have partnerships with a team of engineers, surveyors, architects, general contractors, and estimators for design-build and infrastructure projects.

Jenny is the principal and founding partner of Rural Alaska First. She is a marketing, public relations, and grant writing consultant with over 25 years of experience. A lifelong Alaskan, she brings a thorough understanding of the complex and unique issues faced by rural Alaskan communities. She has devoted her career to helping build sustainable economies and healthy communities.


Jenny's diverse experience provides her the expertise to quickly assess the needs of her clients and develop plans to reach their goals. A skilled strategist, Ms. Evans will match the community or organization's needs with appropriate funding and build collaborative partnerships that optimize their potential funding.


During her time off, Jenny enjoys spending time with her family and dogs, fly-fishing, biking, and traveling.
